Our Tales of Deaf Lives project held a special event this week to showcase the project- Highlights included presentations by project worker Helen Kerridge who talked about what the group had achieved and the history of the project, a fantastic performance by the NTDF deaf issues drama group, talks by Ron Baird & Christine Knott who discussed the untold stories of Joseph Crawley & George Francis Wyatt who were soldiers that became deafened as a result of WW1.
Guests at the event enjoyed a quiz, raffle and Gertie Roxborough helped to unveil the 'Tales of Deaf Lives' banner (pictured) which the group made collectively by knitting & sewing together squares.
Derek introduced the Songs For All video for 'Silent Night' performed in German. Steve Armstrong demonstrated some authentic wargames and there was a chance to look at some memrobilia from WW1.
Overall it was a fantastic & informative event & really showed the effort & hardwork that has been involved in the project.
